Jessica Broas is an American-born, London-based milliner. She studied Fine Art at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States and at Goldsmiths College in the United Kingdom. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally in numerous group and solo shows.
Jessica’s influences are broad and eclectic — ranging from the ephemeral beauty of clouds to the monumental sculpture of Christo; from the flamboyant designs of Schiaparelli to the flora and fauna of the London streets she calls home. The juxtaposition of these influences — blending the traditional with the contemporary — remains central to her practice.
Personal history is a significant source of inspiration. In the early 2000s, Jessica worked in Jeff Koons’ New York studio, where she developed a deep appreciation for materials: their power to convey meaning and their transformative effect on a finished work. Her creative path has been richly varied — spanning architecture, and writing and performing in an all-female rock band — before she pivoted toward couture millinery.
She trained under Rose Cory in traditional couture techniques and learned to channel creative influence and artistic vision into wearable form with milliner Piers Atkinson. A commitment to innovation — pushing boundaries in materials, design, and craftsmanship — continues to drive her work.
Her creations have appeared in the pages of Vogue, Tatler, and Harper’s Bazaar. Recent projects include private commissions for stylists, musicians, and celebrities, as well as an exclusive collection of hats for Yayi & Pony.
